OUR STORY

Three cups of coffee on a white marble surface, with scattered coffee beans. Two cups contain latte with leaf-shaped foam art, and one cup contains black coffee.

The BEGINNING

Cafecito began with a simple phrase: “cafecito con pan dulce.”

Something my grandmother would say often—an invitation to pause, sit, and share a moment together. That phrase became a feeling, and that feeling became Cafecito.

The Journey

Coffee was always part of my life, but everything changed in 2019 after a trip to Italy. That’s where I fell in love with espresso—its craft, its simplicity, its ritual. From a Nespresso machine to my first prosumer espresso setup in 2023, I spent months learning, refining, and chasing the perfect shot. By 2025, I took a leap and launched a coffee cart. That’s where Cafecito was born.

Today

Today, Cafecito is built on passion, persistence, and culture. What started as curiosity has become purpose.

And this is just the beginning.

Our Coffee

Rooted in Latin America

We proudly source our coffee from Latin American countries including Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, and Guatemala.

Every cup reflects the people, traditions, and regions behind it.

This isn’t just coffee—it’s our identity.

Our Mission

To create a space where people can slow down, connect, and share meaningful moments—whether it’s with family, friends, or a quiet pause in their day.

Meet The Founder

A young man in a suit and tie is standing outdoors next to stairs leading to a house, with a pumpkin on the landing. Autumn leaves are scattered on the sidewalk and steps. The house has a lit outdoor lantern, large windows, and a tree with green leaves partially shading the scene.

michael Funes

Hi, I’m Michael Funes, founder of Cafecito. A former professional soccer player who represented both the U.S. and El Salvador, I found an unexpected passion for coffee after my playing career.

What started as a curiosity grew into a craft—learning espresso, technique, and the story behind every bean. In 2025, I took a leap of faith and launched Cafecito, built on hospitality, discipline, and a love for bringing people together over great coffee.
